During my campaign for “On This Silent Night” I was talking about possibly recording a second song, “Freedom’s Price.” We ran out of time and money to do both songs, but I’m truly glad we did! With a few loving comments from my trustworthy music circle I realized that it needed a change. Little did I know it would get a complete REWRITE! When I sent the new song out, the reviews were great, but I also knew that this song was not just for me. I could hear other parts that I alone could not do. I needed to decide what instruments to use, what sound did I want this song to have? I also needed to get those parts written down, and then I needed actual musicians who were willing to work with me (a brand new composer). I knew I could work on most of this myself with a little guidance, but getting the right musicians?!? I had to pray about that one. And BOY did the Lord answer my prayers!!
This past Sunday I met with a cellist and violinist to get the final touches on their parts right. It was amazing! I will admit to being a bit nervous at first, and feeling a little overwhelmed at having to listen to other people’s parts while playing my own part AND singing. It was a lot to keep track of! After we worked through the different sections, made corrections and notes, we took a quick break and then played through it one more time. The musicians had great things to say, and of course THEY WERE AMAZING!!! Without giving away too much of their identities without permission right now, lets just say that they are not your average musicians! The fact that they were willing to work with me for free is humbling. It’s also awesome to realize that the Lord can use my music to call other people to serve him!
Both music pastors from our church came to listen and to meet me. Per our last conversation they want to put “Who Will Come?” (the new name for “Freedom’s Price”) on the program for the church’s big Memorial Day service! So if you are in town, I’ll post all the information the month of so you can make plans to come!
Love!
