When I wrote this, I felt like it was something that needed to be written, and then prayed for the words and music. Being military we have a unique glimpse into the great sacrifices that are made on a daily basis for our freedoms. This is a sacrifice we know exists, but have become numb to the price that our freedom costs. Lives are laid down for deep convictions and love for family, or country, or cause. But what about the price for our eternal freedom? Who will come? Who CAN come to pay such a price?

The first song I have ever written and the first song I have ever shared. It took a year to write because of the steep learning curve. Throughout that year God placed people in my life who would teach me something new, give me that word of encouragement, or just plain ol’ push me to the next step! As I was reading the story of Christ’s birth, my spirit was moved. These key players in scripture gave Jesus such precious gifts, but I know to be face to face with him…to see grace wrapped in those swaddling clothes…they would have left changed! Their lives and their hearts would have been the true gifts they gave that night.
